Book Recommendations

As the writing ref I often do book recommendations. But these reviews are special. In addition to giving you my overall thoughts on the book, I use a favorite passage as an example lesson on how good writing technique we can all learn from as writers. And then I make my best attempt to show the scene using AI art and animations.

Standing Dead is a master class in using setting to build tension. In this video I read a passage form Margaret Mizushima's excellent police procedural mystery series. This book gets five stars from me. A text review is on my blog and will be up on Good Reads. Be sure to visit the author's website.

This time ,y recommendation is cozy mystery by J.B. Abbott. I break down why I love this story, then I read a favorite scene, and then I go over what we as writers can learn from the well crafted scene. Make sure you shop for "Picking up the Pieces" for your reading list.

The Forgotten Son by B.J. Sloan is an excellent look into the tortured human soul on so many levels. If you want to learn to write tragedy, this book is a master class. Join me as I break down some of the reasons why, but also be sure to find the book on amazon or your nearest venue.

There is no better book in my mind to kick off my book recommendations than City of Shattered Light by Claire Winn. This one is a little crude as I was just learning to use AI, and I hope I do this amazing ensemble cyberpunk justice.
